With an adventurous spirit, heartwarming storytelling and a calm yet positive energy when performing to listeners, it seems indie blues Americana singer Jesse Roper knows how to deliver songs that make you get that feel-good feeling, such as the new song ‘Green Eyed Lady‘.
Preparing for the upcoming release of his EP ‘Daisy Wake Up‘ coming to streaming platforms on 6th May, Jesse ramps up the excitement by unveiling his new track ‘Green Eyed Lady‘, which follows on from the previous song ‘Sweet Little Caroline‘.
The new track contains a laid-back, chilled acoustic melody, which is driven by catchy grooves that make it irresistible to sway and nod your head along to. Singing with gritty and deep vocals, Jesse describes a ‘green-eyed’ woman he met and cannot get out of his head, singing with admiration about her delicate charms, looks and personality.
“‘Green Eyed Lady’ was inspired by a sex dream I had when I was a teenager. In my dream I was a crime fighting superhero. I met a crime-fighting super heroine babe. We would fight crime and then meet on rooftops and shag. It was a lucid dream which was incredible. I felt like I dreamt it all night long. Best sleep I ever had.
I wrote the song at a truck stop in Germany. I was freshly single at the time and sore in my heart. The memory of that dream popped into my head and made me smile. I figured I’d preserve it in a song.”
It shows the Victoria, BC singer uses story-driven narratives and true-life experiences to craft a rhythmic song that captures the hearts and souls of many listeners. From starting his music career in 2009 and releasing his debut album ‘Son Of John‘ in 2013, Jesse has continued to maintain his signature sound of positive, laidback melodies and distinct harmonies that warm the heart.
A master at connecting his personal story to his songwriting has helped him reach 50 million career streams to date, as well as inroads in the UK with Radio 2 airplay from Jo Whiley and a performance at AmericanaFest in 2024.
