Inside Alessi Rose’s “FUN”: Heartbreak, Anxiety and Modern Dating

Rising alternative pop artist Alessi Rose dives into questions on love and dating inside her new single ‘FUN‘.

Following on from her summer release ‘Dependent‘, Alessi goes on her journey through the ups and downs of relationships and dating, from reflecting on past memories inside a previous relationship to the painful breakups, wondering if it was you or them that made it crumble.

With similar messages throughout her music collection, from track releases such as ‘Skin’ and ‘Dependent’, Alessi has a talent for crafting different perspectives on a continuation of a theme; whether it is on heartbreak or love, she explores a range of narratives on how to portray the different experiences inside love and dating and how you can encounter a range of emotions in various ways, making it more powerful and relatable to listen to.

This is what the rising artist does in her new single ‘FUN‘ where she reflects on the magical moments of a previous relationship, when she felt all those happy and giddy feelings, and now that it has come to an end, Alessi wonders where it all went wrong, when did she stop becoming ‘FUN’. With her emotional storytelling and relatable dating experiences, she also highlights relationship anxieties, where you overthink everything and question whether it was your fault for the breakup, an emotional story which Alessi creates through another upbeat, rhythmic track, reminding us of a pop hit from the likes of Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo.

“‘Fun’ is about the anger and frustration and regret that comes from letting someone know you intimately and intensely, only to become strangers again when it goes bad. It’s the way in which your own view of yourself becomes distorted when all of your flaws and misgivings that you displayed to that person unabashedly then become the very thing that drives them away.”
