From releasing her EP, ‘A Brief Epic‘, last year to now releasing her brand-new single ‘Pretty Boys‘, Caroline has a theme running across her songs that make people relate to her songs, singing about the cruelties of relationships and heartbreak, to reminiscing about the good old times of love.
Her brand new single, ‘Pretty Boys’ sums up what pretty boys do in Caroline’s popular opinion, “Lying to your one real truth/ That’s what pretty boys do”. It is one of those singles that dives deep into the blues of liking someone who doesn’t like you back, and playing hard to get doesn’t go too well as the boy is just playing games with you, leading to heartbreak for you, which anyone can relate to and many who have experienced this in this current generation.
“It’s like reading straight from my diary—a dramatic story with a terribly disappointing ending. The song is a cautionary tale about the blurry line between friendship and something more. Just because you’ve kissed him doesn’t mean you should do it again, and just because he looks at you that way doesn’t mean you’re the only one. ‘Pretty Boys’ feels like a high school crush at 22, with all the highs, lows, and semi-committal main characters. It’s a very specific experience, but one that’s universally relatable.”
