Emeli Sande releases new album 'How were we to know'

Emeli Sandé explores vulnerability in love and relationships with her new album ‘How Were We To Know’

Pop sensation Emeli Sandé never backs down from singing her heart out and expressing her true feelings and thoughts inside music. Emeli has now released her fifth studio album, ‘How Were We To Know‘.

The newly released album ‘How Were We To Know‘ was written during lockdown, where the sensation could carefully analyse her inner feelings and write more from the heart.

From previous music such as, ‘Next To Me‘ to her album released in 2022, ‘Let’s Say For Instance‘, it shows that Emeli stands strong with her electro-pop music genre. Altogether, her music and lyrics are ignited with passion and force when she sings.

With her new album released containing 11 tracks, Emeli navigates through areas of relationships, surviving through life and love. Singing in songs like ‘Nothing We Can’t Handle‘ and ‘True Colours‘, Emeli expresses messages of positivity and power, trying to direct her way through life. It is like a letter of advice, trying to live your life to the fullest. In ‘True Colours‘ she enthusiastically sings about ‘Just go let your true colours show/Know they ain’t perfect, but true colours glow/And oh, look how beautiful/Oh, look how beautiful.’

“It takes a lot, in this industry, to maintain hope and optimism. What keeps me going are these kinds of messages, and being able to get them out there to others. Because if you hear a piece of music that touches your soul, it reignites your spirit, and awakens something within. I hope this album inspires people in the same way.”

Along with the motivational tracks, the empowering singer-songwriter shares a vulnerability throughout her music, where she tries to figure out whether the relationship is realistic for her.

Inside ‘All This Love‘ and ‘My Boy Likes To Party‘, describe the perspective of a woman trying to recognise whether this love is positive or negative for her, where you try and see the good in a relationship but still are not convinced yet. In the album, Emeli brings a connection to her listeners, making her eleven tracks emotionally driven and relatable.

How Were We To Know’ adds a fresh chapter to one of British music’s biggest success stories. Emeli’s debut album ‘Our Version of Events’ spent a total of 10 weeks at #1, reaching 8 x Platinum status as it became one of the best-selling albums of the decade.

In the next month, Emeli will be performing at a London show as part of Magic Radio’s sold-out Magic of Christmas extravaganza at the Palladium on November 25th alongside Rick Astley, Simply Red and Texas.
