Pop rising artist Brooke Combe yet again releases another single, ‘Passing Faces,’ filled with a beautiful and uplifting jazz rhythm, spreading love and vibrance to the world.
Following on from her previous track ‘Love Was Made Of Stone‘, the influential artist continues to bring joy and positivity throughout her music. Whether it is a story of heartbreak or losing someone you thought was your world, Brooke blends bittersweet lyrics on love and relationships with a glimpse of positivity and bright jazz rhythms, so you’re not hurting from heartbreak but dancing the pain away, which is a beauty within itself which Brook creates with love and heart.
Inside ‘Passing Faces‘, Brooke sings with honesty about the emotional pain that comes with breaking up and questioning why someone you loved had to go away, wondering what made them drift apart from you. With her bittersweet lyrics and emotional storytelling, Brooke has a knack for not only writing from personal experiences that anyone can relate to, but also bringing a wholehearted and warm sound of soulful jazz which lifts you when you are feeling down. From 60s soul rhythms to uplifting Motown, you feel like you are inside a 60s jazz club where everyone is just living through the heart of jazz and soul music; you cannot help but smile.
“I wrote this one dead fast in the kitchen,” Brooke says of the track. “Danny was upstairs in the music room editing a demo we’d just worked on for the album, and I was going through what we had, seeing if there was any type of song we were missing. I needed something light-hearted, catchy, upbeat… I started playing my guitar, and the chorus sort of wrote itself. I had the whole melody, so I just thought of lyrics to go with it. It really began to take shape when I started trying different organ lines to open the song with. Once we settled on that and the soulful guitars playing off each other were added, it became its own thing. Pure mod.”
Alongside the release of her new single, Brooke also excitedly announced that she will be unveiling her sophomore album, ‘Too Late For Tears‘ set to be released next March, with a new UK headline tour in the same month. Get tickets here.
“It’s the spirit of soul, of ska, of Motown, Stax and 2-Tone,” Brooke says of the album. “It’s the soul of radio, old radio — midnight radio — some unknown station you accidentally find between a sea of static; a song that sticks with you for the whole of the next day and the day after; one song that might change the course of your life. Soul for the soul, to stave away the cold.”
