Grammy-nominated pop-rock band One Republic returns with another uplifting single, still carrying emotionally driven, inspirational stories along the way with ‘Pay That Toll‘.
While their previous track ‘Need Your Love‘ focuses on the idea of not needing fame or success to have the magical feeling of love, the pop rock band takes another different perspective of the theme of living throughout life and the experiences we face on don’t rush through life while working, instead take time to be free and take moments in, so you won’t need to ‘pay that toll’ when life ends.
So while they add uplifting acoustics which create catchy rhythms and beats, along with their soothing and edgy vocals, OneRepublic blends these heartwarming musical elements with a bittersweet and important story, inspiring their listeners to take it easy through life and to capture special moments, delivering the message to try not to rush through life by working continuously without any play. “Oh, mama said, “Boy, you should go slow/Been burning up and down that road”/Oh, you think you got time, but before you know/Someday you’re gonna pay that toll.”
Ahead of their release, the pop sensations embark on a special performance at the Fireworks Finale at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic on September 11th and 12th at 8 PM — get tickets HERE. In this special headline concert, they will deliver an end-of-summer concert featuring their iconic tracks, vibrant and celebrating the end of a fun season.
OneRepublic has had a busy year. In addition to global touring across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and China, they released “In Your Eyes,” the band’s fourth collaboration with Alesso, in June, and the single “Need Your Love,” released in April, to rave reviews.
