Spice Girls Tribute: A Night of Nostalgia and Empowerment

Empowerment, glamour and a whole lot of spice! The Spice Girls Tribute gave a performance of their lives on Thursday 9th July at Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch, Essex.

On Thursday night, the stage was set for the talented five-piece girl group, known as Spice Girls – Theatre Show, to bring iconic and vibrant costumes, confidence and party vibes.

Channelling their inner spice, the sensational female vocalists dressed to kill, showing the realistic looks and fabulous personas of Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), Sporty Spice (Mel C), Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), Scary Spice (Mel B) and Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell). From the sequined Union Jack flag dress and cheetah print to Adidas sportswear and sparkling gold sequins, with the beautiful outfits, you were immersed in the Spice Girl world at Queen’s Theatre.

Managed and promoted by Sweeney Entertainment, the Spice Girls Theatre Show tribute marked the music event as the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls Wannabe Tour.

Crowds of Essex came to live out their nostalgic memories, all being transported back to the fabulous naughties era. Not only were adults attending the tribute night, but also young girls who dressed up as their favourite Spice Girl and celebrated the night with their families, listening and being inspired by the huge Spice Girls influence the group holds all over the world.

Whether it was a date night, a family or friend night out, everyone joined in and had the night of their lives, celebrating the music created by popular and influential female artists, especially the music of the Spice Girls.

A glittering disco ball, sensational outfits and soaring, angelic vocals, Sweeney Entertainment’s Spice Girls – The Theatre Show gave Hornchurch a night to remember.

Hearing the uplifting songs and getting into the sassy and fiery spirit, performing viral hits of ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Say You’ll Be There’ to 2 Become 1′ and ‘Stop’, the tribute members brought the celebration of love, womanhood and female music to the centre stage.

Among the amazing vocals that blew everyone away, the members turned it up a notch, not only singing the songs that made the naughties, but also adding high-energy, fierce-driven choreography; the iconic Spice Girls poses, hip swaying and shaking their bodies, the girls increased the pop-power energy on stage. All of these special elements made you feel like you were at an actual Spice Girls reunion tour.

While the party was pumping up with the talented women of the Spice Girls Tribute, it was also insightful to live through the history of the Spice Girls’ music journey. Featuring solo performances in the theatre show from Geri Halliwell and Mel C’s music when they left the band in 1999. On stage, you could see the undeniable chemistry and friendship between the band members and backing band, cheering and supporting each other on as they sang their hearts out.

It wasn’t just a theatre show where you watched the music performances of the Spice Girls, but it was an opportunity for everyone in the audience to join in, get off their seats and dance the night away with the members. As well as this, the night would hold sentimental moments for young girls in the crowd, where they would remember it forever as the girl group portraying the iconic members came out and joined in with everyone. From taking photos to dancing with people, it was a magical memory for all of Queen’s Theatre.

Thinking the night would end there proved everyone wrong as the girls turned the theatre into an Ibiza festival and more of a glorious night celebrating female naughties music. With uptempo beats creating electrical energy around the room, the tribute group wanted to make everyone party more, passionately singing covers together from ‘Freed From Desire’, ‘C’est la vie’ and ‘Love Machine’, showing their love for girl bands Bewitched and Girls Aloud.

The Spice Girls Theatre Show provides a night out for everyone, especially for women and girls who want to embrace their inner confidence and live life to the fullest with the sounds of iconic music.
