Olivia Rodrigo releases new single 'Drop Dead Single'

Olivia Rodrigo’s New Album: You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love

With fourteen Grammy nominations and selling over 36 million albums, pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo returns to music with her third album release, ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love‘.

Since making her debut single ‘Drivers License‘ in 2021, which was number one for 9 weeks, to dropping her debut album ‘Sour‘ in the same year, gaining over 17 billion streams, Olivia has proven she is a success all over the world, sharing a similar spotlight to another queen of pop, Taylor Swift.

Ahead of her album release, the ‘Good 4 U’ singer gave her audiences sneak peeks into what to expect from her album, where she unveiled tracks ‘Drop Dead‘ and ‘The Cure‘ in the last two months, creating a view that her new music collection will feature more of her signature edgy sound of upbeat pop-punk and developing themes on falling in love and breakups.

Unlike her previous two best-selling albums, produced by Dan Nigro ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love‘ is different where Olivia goes on a detailed and emotional journey on the teenage crush experience of falling in love from the first half of the album, containing lyrics on the intimate feeling of entering a relationship which she hasn’t delved into before, so it is a brand-new era of creating songs based on this magical topic.

With related feelings on being in love, Olivia has a talent for making her listeners resonate with her beautiful and storytelling lyrics, from going on a journey exploring her vulnerable experiences on starting to get a crush and being infatuated on ‘Drop Dead‘ and ‘I stalked you on the internet’ to singing about the melancholy of breakups on ‘The Cure‘ and ‘Stupid Song‘.

While crafting thirteen poignant songs which showcase Olivia’s moving and confessional, painful-driven songs and her tender vocals filled with passion, she also gives listeners a surprise music collaboration on the track, ‘What’s Wrong With Me‘ duetting with her fan favourite artist, Robert Smith, from The Cure. A career-defining moment for the 23-year-old.

Alongside the album, Rodrigo released the official music video for the new track “stupid song”. Directed by Mitch Ryan and shot in New York City, the video was choreographed by and features Prima Ballerina Tiler Peck and other dancers from the NYC Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.

Now sharing her third album, already receiving many streams from listeners, Olivia is preparing to embark on The Unravelled Tour in September across Europe and the UK.
