Explaining how her new song will be ‘the song of the summer’, Mae continues to bring her upbeat signiture sound that delves into a style filled with retro bubblegum pop which makes it simillar to how Meghan Trainor sounds when she releases her upbeat, groove-driven tracks, but still Mae makes her music stand out by using elements of relatable diaristic storytelling, making it feel she is communicating with you one on one while exquistly singing with her soulful vocals.
“‘Delusional’ was written by myself and the incredible OSKI. Written on less than an hour of sleep we truly felt delusional writing this track! The song is about being so infatuated by someone that you would stoop to delusional levels to gain their affection. There are heavy themes in this track of obsession, denial and stalking which are very prominent in the second verse. I had so much fun creating this track and definitely feel that it pulled me out of my comfort zone on the songwriting side.”
