Lime Garden’s ‘Maybe Not Tonight’: A Dive Into Youthful Chaos

Since releasing their 2024 debut album One More Thing, the Brighton quartet has now unveiled their chaotic and energetic sophomore album, ‘Maybe Not Tonight‘.

Produced by Charlie Andrew, consisting of ten upbeat tracks, ‘Maybe Not Tonight‘ dives into themes of uncertainty in your twenties, not knowing what direction to go in, but still making sure you live your life to the fullest. From living in your youth years, making mistakes, taking risks and creating memories, the alternative rock girl band sings about being reckless and carefree, learning in life along the way while having fun, which we can all relate to.

From tracks such as ‘23‘ and ‘Maybe Not Tonight‘, the album goes on a journey, where Lime Garden sings about the different perspectives and experiences in living life in your youth, whether it is “At 17 I had the world in my hands/And at 23 I just lost it” or “I just want to bop my head and smoke a cigarette“, the band puts together a collection of energetic and eccentric songs that are relatable to any listener, creating a atmosphere where you want to join and dance to the music, forgetting your tormenting troubles in life.

Vocalist and guitarist Chloe Howard explains:

The album soundtracks a night out, from start to finish. The getting ready, the excitement of going out, but deep down being sad and knowing that something will go wrong. As the night progresses you’re having a great time, until your ex walks in and is there with someone else. You hate the way you feel, but rather than going home you press the big red button. Eventually, you take yourself home full of melancholy, chaos and anger.

Lyrically, it’s about recognising our good and bad parts (the parts you don’t want). Figuring out who you are and who you want to be; unsure if you are getting it right. Embracing the mess and relishing in the chaos of questionable choices. It’s about being okay with not getting it right and choosing not to hide in the shadows but live!

The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Chloe Howard, guitarist Leila Deeley, bassist Tippi Morgan and drummer Annabel Whittle. They classify their style as ‘wonk pop’, defining their genre as experimental music inside indie, rock, pop and many more. With relatable lyrics, the music alongside the tracks makes it driven with grooves, creating a gritty yet upbeat sound for you to hear.

Following its release, Lime Garden will head out on a run of UK and EU tour dates this autumn. Check out their upcoming tour here.
