Four-time Grammy Award winner Raye has returned with her second album, ‘This Music May Contain Hope‘, showing her remarkable talent for songwriting and exceptional music creation.
Setting the scene with her first track, ‘Girl under the grey cloud‘, an introduction where Raye describes a female protagonist reflecting her feelings while walking in bleak, grey weather. She indicates how this album will feature themes of heartbreak, identity and relationships.

From releasing her debut album ‘My 21st Century Blues’ in 2023, which marked Raye’s solo music journey after leaving music label, Polydor Records, in 2021, after having an experience of feeling controlled over how her music sounded, trying to make her someone she wasn’t. After leaving this label, Raye believed in her music and her own hard work enough to independently release her own singles, which went viral: ‘Escapism’ and ‘Hard Out Here’.
She is now working with Human Re Sources, which is an independent music label that has helped Raye craft her own music, expressing her real self and creating her own lyrics, which are meaningful to her and make her authentic art. From having the confidence and bravery to leave a mainstream music label to now creating a successful music masterpiece, Raye has proven to be a success in the music industry, fighting for her work, revealing her enthusiasm and passion for music.
Talking about her experiences inside ‘This Music May Contain Hope‘, Raye crafts a variety of different narratives exploring themes of living life to giving out lessons she has learnt throughout relationships and learning to love yourself without anyone else.
The album contains 17 tracks, which go from positivity to melancholy sadness. ‘I Will Overcome‘ is an orchestral piano ballad where Raye vitalises the importance of overcoming hurdles in life, from talking about the vulnerable emotions we face with the toxicities and comparisons we feel while scrolling through social media to comparing yourself constantly to other people in life. Continuing to deliver the theme of hope and creating positive, influential songs, Raye increases the tempo on ‘Life boat‘. She fiercely repeats the statement ‘I’m Not Giving Up Yet’, featuring inspirational quotes from different people, she creates a positive song which explores the experiences of putting in hard work into your life and while we can be tired and struggle with mental health, she sings with a passion to never give up on your life, no matter how hard it gets.
The track makes you shed a tear while listening to the sweet-sounding melody, to the upbeat party-feel sound that goes along with the song, and as Raye travels throughout the journey of the track and reiterates the lyric on ‘not giving up yet’, she pours out every single emotion inside her song.
