Singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb returns with his debut EP, ‘Quitter,’ using relatable emotions, experiences, and reflections in his songs.
From releasing his debut single earlier this year, “Rocking Chair,” to unveiling his first-ever EP, the 21-year-old has continued using a unique narrative in his music and lyrics. Cameron does this by combining emotional storytelling about life and experiences that his listeners can relate to and adding soft acoustics to portray how he feels within his songs.
Like his new five-track EP, ‘Quitter‘, Cameron becomes vulnerable by opening up about the difficult emotions we carry throughout life. The themes that run across these tracks are about getting clean and being in a relationship that’s going south. The EP contains reflections and lists of different memories and events in life.
In ‘Quitter‘ and ‘By My Own Hand‘, the singer describes how much he is changing for the better to show someone that he loves them and wants to try to make it work. It dives deep into emotional thoughts that tug at the heartstrings of anyone who listens to it. “I’ve been afraid of growing up ‘cause that would mean to sober up/But stoned and drunk don’t mix with loving her.”
Having grown up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, he began working on a pipeline after leaving home at 17. Whitcomb’s life took a turn when he discovered singing at the age of 19, performing karaoke on weekends before his raw talent caught the attention of an American Idol executive through a video posted on Reddit.
Alongside his EP release, Cameron is also taking the opportunity to share his new music with his fans on his upcoming ‘Quitter‘ tour, running from the 1st of October to the 7th of December. You can get tickets here.
