Van Morrison returns with another album this year to celebrate his love for music and the old-time classics, with his 45th studio album release of ‘Accentuate The Positive‘.

Already having released his acclaimed album ‘Moving On Skiffle‘ in March this year, it looks like Van Morrison wants to continue to deliver positive and happy music from the 20th century, giving us upliftment from singing the Rock and Roll covers on some of the timeless classics which has influenced the Blues singer over the years in the music industry. 

He started his album with the cheerful sound of the guitar and soft piano keys. Introducing us to the beginning track, ‘You Are My Sunshine’, creates a heartwarming atmosphere that brightens up anyone’s day. However, while Van sings only covers in this album, with the start of this song, the singer still makes it his own by adding his groove and rhythm to it, which suits his swing and blues style. 

‘Accentuate The Positive‘ brings a welcoming message to anyone who wants to have a good time and reflect on old-time tracks filled with spirits and joy. From the reminiscent songs of The Johnny Burnette Trio’s, ‘Lonesome Train’, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates’, ‘Shakin’ All Over’ and Big Joe Turner’s pioneering rock ‘n’ roll hit, ‘Flip, Flop and Fly’.

On his album, Van Morrison shares how ‘Rock ‘n’ roll is about simplicity, sincerity and expressive power and there’s no way you can get away from that. That’s why it’s good and that’s why it’s lasted. It’s spirit music.’

Contributors to the album include electric guitar from the late Jeff Beck and vocals from Chris Farlowe on, ‘Lonesome Train’, plus guitar from Taj Mahal on, ‘Lucille’ and, ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’. Alongside his album release, the sensation has also announced the news of his gigs, which will be at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, as well as two other album launch shows at The Limelight in Belfast. The first two dates sold out in record speed, leading to the addition of a third and final night. His upcoming shows are:
