The lockdown sensation, Luz, returns with her new single, ‘Not Going Anywhere‘, where she tugs at her acoustic heartstrings and ignites intense emotions and feelings within a single track.
The half-Irish, half-Argentinian lockdown sensation Luz (pronounced ‘Luce’) reemerges with her heartwarming single, dedicating her heart to her partner, where she commits to loyalty and never letting that someone go, which is a love we could all dream about.
The new single follows on from the 2022 Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee’s recent song ‘Sustain‘, as well as her previously captivating singles ‘the author’ & ‘counting houses’ and sees her entire catalogue having been streamed collectively more than 120 million times to date.
With Luz only being 22 years old, she certainly knows how to transform powerful emotions and thoughts into heartfelt lyrics that are relatable to each listener.
Singing with soft and dreamy vocals, Luz portrays messages of commitment, taking someone’s hand and never letting it go, describing that type of love where you grasp hold of it tightly and find out it is too important to lose it. “Ooh, you’ll always be stuck with me now/I don’t wanna live without you/Nеver finding somebody new/No one’s ever known me like you do.”
Throughout her new and recent tracks, there is a continuous pattern where Luz progresses to explore new meanings of relationships, love and loss. When she does this, it turns into magnificent songwriting, where each lyric is filled with unfiltered honesty, which can be seen as a talent to any songwriter.
“This is the first song I wrote after having writer’s block for about a year and a half. I put a lot of pressure on myself on my last songs to follow them up with something equally as thought out and honest. I didn’t know what I wanted to say, and any attempt at writing something felt false. I went into a bit of a spiral, and felt I didn’t deserve a career in music. I lost all motivation. I felt like I was climbing an infinite ladder and didn’t see the point of going any further. I eventually did get pulled out of this by the people in my life. The chorus is them telling me that regardless of what happens, they’re ‘not going anywhere’.”
Luz
Despite having a long time re-emerging into her music since her previous single, Luz has proven various times that she is a credit to the music industry, and only being in her early twenties, she can capture a beautiful song narrative, along with heartwarming melodies.
Only starting her music journey at 16 from her bedroom during lockdown, Luz began to share her music with the world, where eventually, she started to become recognised by the biggest names of music, including the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi and many more.
Also, during lockdown, Luz put a piano version of Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ on TikTok. Her cover has now amassed over 8 million views and was officially approved by Dua Lipa herself. She also featured alongside Noah Kahan for a mesmerising version of his single ‘Passenger’.
Having previously supported Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi and JP Saxe at one off dates, Luz will take on her debut headline shows in October, in Cork, Dublin & London. Tickets available HERE.
