With 13 Platinum and a pair of Gold RIAA Certifications, country pop group Old Dominion is going through soulful storytelling, reminiscing about the good times on their new EP, ‘Memory Lane‘.
Lead singer/guitarist Matthew Ramsey, guitarist/keyboardist/accordion player/vocalist Trevor Rosen, guitarist/vocalist Brad Tursi, bassist/vocalist Geoff Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers, Old Dominion are the becoming the next top American band to produce a collection of songs that are rhythmic and true to the heart.
With their one million followers on Instagram, the group is rising through the music world, and they are continuing to produce sensational harmonies and melodies, combining them with their soulful and romantic lyrics. Like with their new 8-track EP where they take a trip down ‘Memory Lane’, it is a list of songs which tug at the heartstrings, and while it is an EP consisting of emotional stories about reminiscing on a journey of love, it still has that infectious feeling to make you want to dance and feel happiness to it.
The EP is quite literal as the band of brothers goes on a trip filled with memories, reflecting on a heartfelt relationship that can be described as a dream. While some tracks include joyful harmonies such as ‘I should have married you’ and ‘Ain’t got a worry’, there are still bittersweet stories describing regret in their relationship. It shows that love is not always sunshine; there are always thunderstorms in between.
“We’ve been through hotel keys, one-man bands, boats for the day, meat, candy, happy endings, therapy and tequila,” says Ramsey with a laugh. “We’ve put hooks on our hooks, and all kinds of sing- and clap-alongs, and we love the look on fans faces when we play all these songs live, but we’re all adults: we know life is sometimes a little more complicated.”
“We didn’t want to get all heavy and serious,” picks up Tursi. “But we figured we could keep doing what we do… and maybe go a little further into thinking about life. When we started writing, started working these songs up, they felt just as good – even while going deeper.”
With Memory Lane rolling out now, their No Bad Vibes Tour picks up June 30/July 1 with a doubleheader at Lake Tahoe’s Outside Arena and runs hard in some of the nation’s most iconic arenas, choice festivals and the occasional tennis stadium through a three-night stand at Key West’s Coffee Butler Amphitheater March 22-24.
