Upcoming singer-songwriter Rosie knows how to create a song with raw, emotional and passionate lyrics, and she continues to do this in her recent single, ‘Startover‘.
Since her debut EP ‘20mg of Happiness‘, the New York-based singer-songwriter reveals a similar theme in her collection of songs where she brings topics of mental health and life reflection into them, which makes them powerful and relatable to listeners.
Inside her new single ‘Startover‘, Rosie explores a relationship that seems bad for her mental health, which leads to her prioritising herself and deciding to break off a relationship to start over with her own life. However, she is stuck between losing someone or starting over for her own benefit. ‘If we keep going the way that things are going/We’ll go crazy, the compromise will tear us apart/And maybe giving up is good for us and it won’t be easy/But starting over is the hardest part.’
While exploring this narrative inside her song, what makes it more emotive is Rosie’s dreamy vocals alongside a soothing melody, and as the singer passionately sings the chorus, the music becomes more uptempo and creates an uplifting direction.
“‘Startover’ is about my relationship with myself and my mental health,” ROSIE says. “When writing it, I was in a period of my life where I felt like I was in a constant fight with myself. This song is me realizing that I needed to let go of certain parts of who I was that were no longer serving me and start rebuilding myself from the ground up. I hope this song finds anyone else who’s experiencing these feelings and I hope that they’re able to see that they are not alone in what they’re going through.”
