Recently, pop sensation Ed Sheeran has announced his upcoming album, ‘Equals‘, out on the 29th of October, as well as adding an exciting album announcement Ed Sheeran has also dropped his new, emotionally driven single, ‘Visiting Hours‘.
Since returning with his euphoric new single, ‘Bad Habits’, on the 25th of June, news has been on the horizon about when will Ed Sheeran create another sensational album? Now answers have been fulfilled as the singer has recently announced there will be an album on the way.
So far, there has been a pattern of symbols on Ed’s albums, from Divide and X to Plus, and now the fourth studio album will be a symbol known as ‘Equals‘. This will include his signature sound of guitar-led tracks, conveying the changes within his life, such as the experiences of love, loss, resilience and fatherhood.
“= (Equals) is a really personal record and one that means a lot to me. My life changed greatly over the past few years – I got married, became a father, experienced loss, and I reflect on these topics over the course of the album. I see it as my coming-of-age record, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”

In this Ed comes to terms with the loss of his mentor and friend, Michael Gudinski, and written shortly after his passing: “I wish that heaven had visiting hours / So I can just swing by and ask your advice”. Performed for the first time at Michael’s state memorial in March, the poignant track, which is joined by a stripped performance video (watch here), features backing vocals from Michael’s close friends, Kylie Minogue and Jimmy Barnes.
