After her recent single, ‘City‘, upcoming artist, Katy for Kings, has revealed a new single called ‘Impersonator‘.
Continuing on the melodic folk musical style, Katy uses bolder pop elements and the inspiration of Taylor Swift’s folk music to make an emotionally driven song.
With her distinct vocals, in ‘Impersonator‘, Katy describes an unlikable relationship where your other half is making you impersonate someone else who they may have previously loved. From changing the way you look to the way you sound, it is a relationship where you cannot be yourself, and this one would not last forever.
So far, in her collection of songs, 20-year-old Katy obtains a unique talent where she uses real-life, relatable experiences and creates beautiful sounds and lyrics that sums up the message and feeling conveyed in it.
“‘Impersonator’ was written from the perspective of someone slowly realising that they aren’t welcome in their own relationship anymore, and that all along the other party was trying to change them anyway.”
