Ellie Goulding Sets Herself Free In ‘Brightest Blue’

After leaving a sneak peek song from her new album, pop-sensation Ellie Goulding has released her fourth studio album called ‘Brightest Blue’.

Since sharing big hints about her new music project, in the end of June Ellie and Lauv made a big music announcement by presenting their song collaboration, which appeared on Brightest Blue called ‘Slow Grenade’. Fans were going wild over the announcement and were on the edge of their seats to hear more from Ellie’s upcoming album.

Now the album is finally here, and we couldn’t be more excited. Brightest Blue includes 18 tracks, split into two halves, where Ellie pours her heart out about the experiences of love and relationships, how it can go from sunshine and rainbows to rain and stormy weather. It goes to show how love is unpredictable and we never know what to expect.

During the album, it talks about an honest perspective about love and how sometimes relationships are dictated by money, power and lies. In the track list there are a variety of songs where Ellie has collaborated with artists such as Juice WRLD on ‘Hate Me’, Lauv on ‘Slow Grenade’, Blackbear on ‘Worry about me’ and many more.

Songs such as ‘Power’, ‘Cyan’ and ‘Flux’ talk about the struggles you can go through in love, it can all be glammed up as sweet and delicate, but behind close doors that love could be intoxicated. In power, Ellie sings how ‘you just want power, you’re not down for love’

In the second half of Brightest Blue, Ellie meets a breaking point where she expresses the feelings of being free and makes her way out of the tunnel of darkness.

‘Ode To Myself’, ‘Woman’ and ‘Brightest Blue’ are songs on the album which shows the development of confidence she gains after losing someone else to feel the love for herself again. Just like the lyrics in ‘New Heights’ she describes how it is hard to escape from a dark relationship, but you need to make the right choice for your life and your happiness, as Ellie sings ‘Love without someone else feels right’.

In a recent interview from The Guardian with Ellie Goulding, she opens up about her career and her experiences. For example, at the beginning of her career, Ellie had meetings with producers, but within these meetings, some were uncomfortable. According to The Guardian, from Ellie herself, she said “The first producer I met wanted to sleep with me,” she says. “And I was like, why? I didn’t see myself as an object of desire.” Along with many haunting memories and the strengths and weaknesses Ellie had to face, in her album the lyrics are true to the heart and emotive.

Like many albums and singles we have seen Ellie perform, she always impresses us with her songwriting, she continues to stay honest with her songs. She doesn’t dress things up, she stays real to the song, and that is what is so inspiring about her as an artist.
