Pop sensation and incredible vocalist Lizzy McAlpine knows how to transform heartbreak into a powerfully emotional piece which tugs at the heartstrings in her new single ‘Ugly Things‘.
Starting in 2020 with her debut album ‘Give Me A Minute‘ to her viral hit ‘Ceilings‘ in 2022, the indie singer-songwriter has risen so far in the music industry and has gained many streams and built a following of 1.2 million on social media has a talent for portaying complex experiences that effect you in life and turn them into moving relatable ballads, making you feel every ounce of emotion of grief and heartbreak that Lizzy captures beautifully in her songs.
In her new single ‘Ugly Things‘, she uses her soothing, soft vocals, which fill the song with delicacy and vulnerability. Lizzy sings about the heartbreak of seeing someone you loved dearly move on with someone else, and now she is in the process of healing while still painfully reflecting on the powerful feelings of grief and nostalgia she felt inside her past relationship. Following on from ‘The Light In The Painting‘, Lizzy gives us another taste of her upcoming fourth studio album ‘Angel‘, set to be released on 18th of September. Exploring themes of grief and gutwrenching breakups that we can all relate to, but what is special about Lizzy singing about the popular music topic of breakups in relationships is that she takes her personal experiences and transitions them into unique stories, putting her own style of personal and emotional storytelling at the forefront, anaylsting and digging deep into her own vulnerable emotions which alotgether creates a strong, powerful single.
“I made this video by myself in my house with my camcorder so I could capture the feeling of this song: loneliness and heartbreak. It’s about seeing someone you thought you knew move through the world in a way that is completely foreign to you, and wishing their path would lead them back to you somehow.”
