Rising star Jamie Rafferty gives us more of a glimpse into the beginning of his music career with his second single release out now, ‘So I Can Let Her Go‘.
Following on from his debut track ‘Back At 25‘, Jamie continues to deliver heartfelt songs, bringing his heart and soul into every word he sings about living life, overcoming obstacles, reflecting on bittersweet memories and going on a journey of relationships.
In his second single, singing with passion, the rising star yearns for an old flame to get over his breakup, which has ended. He creates heartwarming lyrics about wanting to feel close to someone while feeling the hurt from the previous relationship. A relatable song which anyone can feel similar emotions to Jamie feels throughout the song: the painful experience of trying to heal and move on, reconnecting with someone new while fixated on the past love.
With the emotional storytelling and the blend of chilled acoustics, the folk-pop artist knows how to craft an emotionally driven song which makes it feel sentimental and intimate.
From his debut track to the release of his second single, Jamie is giving us more of a taste of his unique style in music, capturing emotive stories which speak to the heart and make it relatable for anyone to listen to.
“Being in Nashville had a really strong influence on the song and the way we wrote it. Some of my favourite writers have strong ties to the city, John Prine and Willie Nelson being a few. We decided to lean into the storytelling style of song and came up with this idea of flipping Jolene by Dolly Parton on its head, instead of begging someone not to take your partner away, I was begging someone to take mines away so I could begin to move on. I loved the whole process of creating this song with Elliott and Owen, it was so different from how I would usually write but definitely unlocked a side to my writing. “

‘So I Can Let Her Go’ and ‘Back At 25’ both feature on his upcoming debut EP ‘Detached Observations’ out 4th September, which features collaborators including Seton Daunt (Yungblud, Jack Savoretti), Owen Lewis (Leonard Cohen, Paolo Nutini, Matt Maeson),Elliott Blaufuss (Noah Kahan, Goldford, Phillip Phillips) and solo artist / producer Luke Sital-Singh.
