‘Thanks for coming‘, continuing to prove she is the iconic queen of pop since the mid-80s, pop sensation Madonna delivers another ethereal album framed around her signature sound of dance and disco pop, bringing the rhythms and funky feeling inside ‘Confessions II’.
Ahead of her new album release, Madonna gave her listeners sneak peeks of what to expect from her new music, including sharing the featured album track ‘Bring Your Love‘, collaborating with another queen of pop, Sabrina Carpenter. Releasing this track in April, the pop sensation revealed that her upcoming album will contain her home style of dance pop and disco, transporting you onto a dance floor where you can let your mind free and escape from everyday life.
The brand-new album is a sequel to her 2005 tenth studio album ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, and 20 years later, the ‘Vouge‘ singer makes her music even more modern to suit the electronic dance landscape, helping people let loose and travel to a world filled with vibrance, colourful lights and a disco ball to help you dance the night away and have a spectacular time.
While her previous music in the 80s focused on traditional disco pop, Madonna crafts these sixteen tracks, blending exciting genres of techno and house, giving that uplifting party and festival energy. ‘Confessions II‘ is something you would hear from a DJ set list from a smoky, pounding nightclub, surrounded by many bodies, having the night of their lives. From the tempo and the bass to Madonna’s angelic and distinct vocals, the elements inside each track create a hazy feeling inside your head, where you are not in your body, but you’re ignited on the dance floor, having an electrical sensation throughout your bones and dancing the night away.
As Madonna says in her second track, being on the shiny dance floor is ‘Good For The Soul‘, and that is a statement of truth from the queen of music herself.
Produced by long-time friend and collaborator Stuart Price, inside the sixteen tracks, Madonna explores themes of letting go of the troubles inside your life and letting your mind run wild without any responsibility and with the hypnotising, upbeat tempo, there’s no way you can resist slipping into a carefree atmosphere; it is one of those albums that you cannot help but move your body to.
With tracks such as ‘I Feel So Free‘ and ‘Danceteria‘, Madonna sings with admiration and awe of being on the dancefloor; she describes that when you are on that floor in the club, you can transport yourself to a new identity; it is like a culture within itself, a time where anyone can be free and be anyone they want to be. “Sometimes I like to just hide in the shadows/Create a new persona/A different identity/I can be whoever I wanna be/Create a new persona/Honestly, I wish I could be like other people/And just not care/But out here/On the dance floor/I feel so free.”
From the connection she has from the dance floor to exploring themes of being in love, loss and healing, Madonna creates sixteen tracks you can feel immersed in, joining her as she tells us to let our hair down and forget everything.
The album features her daughter, Lola Leon, on the emotional track “The Test,” which the two co-wrote, with deeply personal lyrics reflecting the healing and progression of their relationship. Madonna also collaborates for the first time with Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix on the haunting “Bizarre,” an exploration of the complexities of love. Additionally, Belgian artist Stromae brings his distinctive style to the seductive “My Sins Are My Saviour.” Producers Andrew Watt and Cirkuit join Stuart Price on two evocative songs, “Danceteria” and “L.E.S. Girl,” chronicling Madonna’s early years in New York City, celebrating the legendary club, the friendships that shaped her and the unique life only Madonna could capture.
It was recently announced Madonna would co-headline the first-ever halftime show for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Final on July 19 from New York New Jersey Stadium. With an expected global audience to exceed 1.5 billion viewers, the world will be watching as she steps onto the stage to perform during this defining cultural moment. Her Confessions II track “Read My Lips” featuring Colombian singer Feid has become an anthem of the tournament.
