Taylor Swift Returns to Country Roots in Toy Story 5

Following the release of ‘The Life Of A Showgirl‘ album, which topped the music charts in October 2025, becoming a global best-selling album, pop sensation Taylor Swift is back with her new single ‘I Knew It, I Knew You‘ for the new movie Toy Story 5.

Remember when we all shed a tear to Randy Newman’s song “When She Loved Me? Not a dry eye in the cinema while watching Jessie in Toy Story 2 getting abandoned by her owner, but who could top that hit song?

Well, no other singer than the queen of pop and country, Taylor Swift.

Collaborating with longtime friend Jack Antonoff, and going back to her country roots, Taylor brings a soulful, acoustic song, reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ of either a friendship that has come to an end or a relationship that has hit the rocks. Either way, it is a laidback, upbeat song which feels nostalgic and emotional, because it is, of course, for the childhood movie we all grew up with, the Toy Story franchise, and it is Taylor coming home to her country roots.

I Knew it, I Knew You‘ will be featured in the upcoming movie, Toy Story 5, for cowgirl character Jessie, speaking on the new single on an Instagram post, showing a video of Taylor wearing a cowgirl outfit back in her younger days, she expressed how: “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

Toy Story 5 is set to be released in cinemas on Friday, 19th June. Why not watch the trailer and listen to Taylor Swift’s new single ‘I Knew It, I Knew You‘ to get into the Toy Story 5 spirit?
