Jamie Grey’s New Single ‘Unequivocal’: A Heartfelt Journey

Rising singer Jamie Grey, who always thought he wouldn’t make his singing ambition come alive, is proving himself wrong by releasing beautiful yet emotional music that speaks from the heart, especially in the new single release ‘Unequivocal‘.

From performing on The Voice UK in 2017 to being determined to win the judges’ votes and appearing again on the music show in 2018, Jamie showed his perseverance in music, wanting to achieve his dreams and become a great singer. He has excelled at this so far, releasing a range of music since debuting in 2018 with his trackWhat Matters Most.

Now he has released his new song called ‘Unequivical‘ continuing to craft lyrics which are meaningful, honest and real, making them filled with emotion and making his listeners tug at the heartstrings with his passionate lyrics, whether it is on heartbreak, being happy in relationships or falling in love, he writes from true experiences, making it that more raw letting you shed a tear while listening to the sweet melody of his song or his strong and distinct vocals that ground the song with strong feelings that you can resonate with.

When I was writing this song I was trying to explain the thought of knowing something for absolute certain. A knowing in your heart that you’d be reunited with a person again and you couldn’t be told otherwise. The word unequivocal just came out. I thought maybe it was a bit too complex of a word to be in a song but I couldn’t shake how perfectly it summed up what I was trying to say. That’s how the song was born.

I also for a long time wanted to write a song about goodbyes but in a positive light and not such an obviously sad one. I’ve often thought, ‘What if I could flip my goodbyes into something positive? Maybe then I wouldn’t fear goodbyes as much as I do.’ The song really helped me with that and I absolutely love it for that reason.”

His new single continues to develop on the theme of heartbreak, but this time, there is a twist where he co-writes lyrics with long-term collaborator Anders Hojer, singing exquisitely and deeply on a relationship that has come to an end, but he still wants to fight for it with everything he has, scared of losing the person he loved the most. While this song can be primarily based on relationships, Jamie has created a melanholic, sweet-soothing song which can be added in different perspectives, whether it is you missing someone that you have just broken up with or losing a family member who has just passed away, you can relate to it anyway, and that is what makes Jamie a rising star in this music industry, because if you can listen to a song and let it impact you in a certain, strong way, then the artist has done his or hers job in creating a song which is effective and emotional to hear, from the music to the lyrics of honesty and meaning, Jamie knows has a talent to craft moving songs. “This ain’t goodbye/Let’s frame it another way/Let’s think outside the box/Cos an ordinary train of thought/Only leads to broken hearts/This ain’t goodbye/Let’s frame it another way.”

Recent times have seen Jamie Grey push forward on multiple fronts, with Radio 2 and BBC Introducing airplay, 75 million+ streams, co-writing with James Arthur, a sold-out UK headline tour, and gigs with Rag’n’Bone Man, Scouting For Girls and Jools Holland.

But things didn’t always look that promising for him. He was raised in Redcar, but never really felt like becoming an artist was a realistic ambition. After getting a job working in finance in London, that gradually changed – he’d watch a busker near the office every day and came to realise that music is what he was compelled to do.  After committing to that goal, a big break emerged when he competed on ‘The Voice’ but didn’t succeed in the blind auditions. But that didn’t break him: instead, he spent a year working on his artistry, returned to try again and earned the backing of both Olly Murs and Tom Jones en route to making the top eight of the live show. And that set his career in motion.

Jamie’s upcoming ‘Songs I Wrote’ tour is the ideal presentation of his style, bringing solo voice and acoustic guitar performances to intimate venues across the UK and Europe. Tickets for the dates listed below are available HERE.
