Chris Brown releases new album 'Brown'

The Impact of Chris Brown’s ‘Brown’ on R&B and Pop Music

The pop and R&B sensation Chris Brown, known for his saucy and upbeat rhythms, is back with his twelfth studio album, ‘Brown’.

Three years after the album 11:11 was released, the R&B king returns with his twelfth studio album, continuing to bring the grooves and spice while exploring the effects that relationships and heartbreak can have on people.

With 27 tracks filled with heart and soul, in the first half of the album Chris dives into a mixture of upbeat tracks based on finding yourself away from the images society portrays of you and describing the themes of yearning and being in love and wanting a intimate connection with your other half, and we all know Chris knows how to deliver themes like this extremely well, such as previous popular tracks like Back To Sleepand No Guidance that feature lyrics on that spicy love which fans all love.

On his new album, with a refreshing feel but still stepping into a comfortable soulful Chris Brown zone, he introduces his new album, exploring independence and singing passionately with his angelic vocals on paving his own way through life, telling people to ‘Leave Me Alone‘. “Leave me alone and let me breathe for a second/Everybody got opinions, but they missin’ the message/I’ve been fightin’ my demons, I’ve been learnin’ my lessons/I don’t need no directions, already been out here/Try to walk in my shoes, but they don’t fit right/Every scar got a story, every wrong made me right.”

Early on in the album, Chris makes a subtle hint at cancel culture and opens up about his previous mental health struggles on tracks like ‘Hate Me‘. He writes with raw emotion inside his lyrics, making every lyric inside his track meaningful and for listeners to relate to; this is why Chris is one of many successful and popular artists in the music industry, as he doesn’t just deliver the sensational, energetic music but conveys real emotion filled with honesty and truth. “If you wanna see me in a hearse/That’s probably what I deserve/All I ever wanted was the best for ya/I just couldn’t find the words/So I’ll be here to take the pain.”

While speaking on important matters, diving into mental health, identity and paving your own way through life, Chris also navigates tracks that speak on his signature spice about love and yearning in relationships. Songs such as ‘Obvious‘ and ‘#BODYGOALS‘ bring the saucy sex and spice inside the music and lyrics, describing how he wants to feel that intimacy with someone he loves. Not only with the music that creates a hot and dreamy, loved-up atmosphere, but the way Chris sings with his exquisite, soft yet grounded vocals elevates the desired emotion even more inside tracks like these.

What makes this album more beautiful to listen to is hearing artist collaborations from Leon Thomas on ‘Fallin‘, Bryson Tiller on ‘It Depends‘, Vybz Kartel on ‘Fuck and Party‘ and many more talented artists, which you can stream on Chris’s new album.

In addition to the new album, Chris Brown and Usher jointly posted a commercial on Instagram recently (click here to watch) to announce their North American stadium tour, The R&B Tour (Raymond & Brown) — for more information/to purchase tickets, click here. The now 40+ tour date outing, with multiple new show dates announced, kicks off on Friday, June 26 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, making stops in major cities including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami and more.

After the sixteenth song on the ‘Brown‘ album, the ‘Yeah!’ singer slows the melody down and sings with honesty and passion about the experiences of heartbreak and how it can affect the life you live. ‘What’s Love‘ is one track on the second half of the album that explores the pain and grief of trying to find that special kind of love, the one that doesn’t destroy you and that makes you feel gifted instead. “Almost feels like it’s déjà vu, no difference/Heartbreak for me’s on a loop, consistent/Feels like my feelings are hostages/My heart’s been turned off, that’s my downfall.”

‘Brown’ continues to show that Chris Brown will never be defeated in the music industry; he remains a shining star, a king of pop, soul and R&B, writing lyrics that capture the warming feelings of love, yearning, but also emotions that conquer heartache and teach lessons in life.
