Bradley Simpson knows how to capture the hearts of listeners by delivering a popular album, drawing us into a journey of life filled with ups and downs in relationships, growth, and learning lessons through emotional experiences.
After finishing The Vamp’s tenth Anniversary tour last September, the dreamy lead singer went on to embark on his solo music career, creating his solo debut album, The Panic Years, released in February.
Quickly becoming a top ten solo debut album is no surprise as Simpson brings his passion and heart into his twelve tracks. While his music from The Vamp’s is pop-driven, Bradley’s solo album brings in a genre of indie rock, which elevates the emotion in his songs.
Beginning the album, Bradley introduces his fresh style of music with ‘Cry at the Moon‘, which is rock-heavy and adds excitement to show what’s in store for the all-new album.
Bradley goes on a journey of exploring themes of relationships, gaining that magical feeling of love, and trying your best to make a relationship work which everyone can relate to. ‘Holy Grail‘ delivers the importance of this, where Bradley softly sings and tugs the heartstrings of many by singing about ‘We’ll have bills that we’ll have to pay/We’ll have words we don’t want to say/Couple kids I can’t wait to get to know/Hopefully songs on the radio/In our place in a little town/We’ll have days where I let you down/Holy Grail, I was born to love you.’
‘Favourite Band‘ is another fan favourite, which is fiery and passionate, having upbeat music you want to dance to, Bradley sings about wanting to grab that person’s attention, who you love and want them to hear your words.
While singing about finding your own feet and working your way through relationships through songs such as ‘Carpet Burn‘, and ‘Daisies‘, Bradley adds reassurance to The Vamps fans inside his song ‘The Band’s Not Breaking Up‘. Revealing how everyone goes on their solo journey, but they will always come back together, ‘picking up where they left’. It is a heartwarming track that is moving and nostalgic to hear.
The album is highly captivating with music that is filled with an explosion of energy about love, life and going through complex emotions in life. Relating to this, Bradley gives us an insight into when you are young and finding your way through life in his song ‘Panic Years‘, reflecting on how the rollercoaster of emotions you feel throughout your younger years will smooth out and you will find your way.
