Griff releases 'Last Night's Mascara'

Griff explores a breakup perspective with ‘Last Night’s Mascara’

From supporting Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter on their tours, pop sensation Griff has returned with her mysterious new single, ‘Last Night’s Mascara‘.

Following on from her fan favourite song ‘Vertigo‘ which was released in the summer, Griff continues to bring emotional storytelling in her lyrics and her dreamy pop music, which is upbeat and powerful to hear with every word she sings and the beat of the music which is strong and syncs in with the emotion delivered within the songs.

With ‘Last Night’s Mascara’, Griff carries on to portray themes from different perspectives on love, relationships and breakups. While most songs in the music industry are surrounded by themes which deal with love and relationships, there are differences in how artists display these experiences with their lyrics and musical productions. With this said, the young Brit rising star describes these common themes inside music in a unique way, from the upbeat, euphoric pop music she uses to how she describes perspectives on love in her lyrics.

Griff’s new single shows off how talented Griff is and how she uses her song title ‘Last Night’s Mascara’ to compare it to a breakup or an argument which happened the night before, where she is trying to wash off the pain and hurt through her mascara. It is brilliant and powerful how she explores this in her lyrics, which can be relatable for a lot of people who have experienced this. ‘Mm, would you look at me now? Yeah

Wake up in the morning, oh, would you look at me now?/I’m rubbing it off like it’s a memory of you/Oh, look at me now/Oh, would you look at me now?‘.
