Perrie Edwards releases 'Tears' Music video

Perrie Edwards lives out her Cher 70s dreams inside the ‘Tears’ music video

With her second single recently being unveiled on Capital’s Summertime Ball stage, Perrie Edwards now shares her accompanying music video to new song ‘Tears‘.

With a glamorous aesthetic, filled with sequins, feathers, and colourful make-up, Perrie wanted to live out her Cher dreams by creating a 70s, Cher-inspired music video. You can tell it is a retro, dreamy setting while watching Perrie dance and sing her incredible single ‘Tears‘.

“I wanted to live out my 70s Cher inspired fantasies with this video… I’m glad you all love it as much as I do. Thank you for all the love ♥️”

Unlike her first music video as a soloist which was ‘Forget About Us‘, Perrie is not walking peacefully on a beach, instead in ‘Tears‘ brings a community-feel atmosphere together; 60s-70s themed streets filled with dancers dressed in retro bright-coloured clothing, from pantsuits and vibrant flared trousers to sparkly, sequined dresses.

Compared with the lyrics of the song talking about letting go of heartbreak and moving on from pain, the setting and theme of the music video presents a happier atmosphere, from people dancing to having a great time in this 70s setting. It is interesting to see how Perrie balances these narratives throughout her music and lyrics.

The Little Mix ex-band member debuted her performance to ‘Tears‘ when she starred in the Capital Summertime Ball last month.
