From reminiscing about relationships and the highs and lows of romantic memories, Olivia Rodrigo takes a new turn in her new single, ‘Vampire‘ concentrating on the betrayal and fury inside her lyrics. If you are a sucker for belting out fiery songs and reflecting on the hurt and painful emotions, then take a bite out of this song.
It has been a while since the ‘Drivers License‘ singer has promoted new music, so when Olivia made her compelling announcement about her new single, fans were ecstatic and wondering what moving, energetic music performance she would do next.
However, the pop sensation hasn’t been too distant from our screens due to appearing in the third season of the Disney Plus series, High School Musical: The Musical, where we see her play her character as Nini. But now, as months pass, Olivia returns with new music we can all enjoy.
Collaborating with Daniel Nigro, Olivia’s new single ‘Vampire‘ follows on from the piano ballads she gave us with ‘Driver’s License‘, but this time she goes in a different direction to elevate her emotions of anger and pain, which conveys a dark and mysterious persona shining through the song, or maybe because the song title says ‘Vampire‘, who knows?
Beginning the track with melancholic piano keys, the singer is alone with her inner thoughts going through the experience of her relationship, but this time she lies out her frustration into the song and talks about “The way you sold me for parts/As you sunk your teeth into me, oh Bloodsucker, fame fucker/Bleedin’ me dry like a goddamn vampire.”
While creating a sympathetic feeling at the beginning of the track, it starts to increase tempo where a heavy rock-pop sound enters the chorus, where Olivia passionately sings about the chaos and pain she felt about an ex. She tries to process their flaws and how they made her something she is not.
Olivia’s new single release follows on from her debut album in 2021 ‘Sour‘ which gained #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced 2 #1 singles: ‘Drivers License’ and ‘Good 4 U. ‘ Successfully having this under her song belt, the 20-year-old will return with her upcoming album, ‘Guts‘, out on the 8th of September, which could explore more burning lyrics coming from the artist.
Why not listen to her ‘blood-sucking’ new single now?
