Pop sensation Ed Sheeran is back, bringing us some new fantastic music, with his new single, ‘Bad Habits‘.
Following his record-breaking two-year ‘Divide‘ tour, his 2019 sixth album release, ‘No.6 Collaborations Project‘, and the arrival of his first daughter, Ed Sheeran, now returns to music, making a rhythmic song for the summer!
Released on Friday, Ed Sheeran switches his music style up a level, continuing his signature guitar-laced music but adding an electro-pop element as well. ‘Bad Habits‘ reminds us of his uptempo, acoustic song ‘Sing‘, released in 2014, but with more of a synth-pop tune, like The Weeknd on ‘Blinding Lights‘.
“Feels great to be back with my new single. I wanted the video for Bad Habits to play on the nature of habits in a fantastical way so I decided on vampires. It was mega fun getting into character except for the heights (that wasn’t so fun). Enjoy x”

Co-written by long-time collaborators Johnny McDaid (“Shape of You”) and FRED (No.6 Collaborations Project), the single is an energetic song about being influenced by bad habits which lead to an unhealthy lifestyle that consumes you, “My bad habits lead to late nights endin’ alone / Conversations with a stranger I barely know / Swearin’ this will be the last, but it probably won’t / I got nothin’ left to lose, or use, or do.”
Directed by Dave Meyers (Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar), the ‘Shape of You‘ singer explores his ‘Bad Habits‘ in the accompanying music video, dressed as a Vampire in a pink suit. Ed embarks on a wild night out alongside his crew of ghouls before morphing back to his real self the next morning, ginger hair intact, as the sun rises over him.
‘Bad Habits‘ will be one of the tracks appearing on Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album, ‘Minus‘.
