Clean Bandit and Iann Dior - 'Higher'

Best songs that have captured our attention at InCeleb

As music is one thing that unites us through good and bad times, here at InCeleb, we thought it would be a sensational idea to talk about the favourite tunes we love right now.

Higher

Higher‘ radiates a type of energy that is optimistic and carefree; the music gives an electrifying thrill that compels us to the unknown and how we want to grab everything that opportunities in life throw at us. It creates a liberating atmosphere.

Of course, it is no doubt that the style of music produced is by Clean Bandit, who is Grace Chatto and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson. It is refreshing and a spring/summer tune that will rush through playlists. Helping write and feature on the song was Iann Dior and Bastille’s Dan Smith, and having their distinct vocals, along with the music of Clean Bandit, brings a refreshing taste to the industry.

I Smile

The Voice winner from 2019, Blessing Annatoria, sings a beautiful interpretation of Kirk Franklin’s ‘I Smile‘. The laid-back R&B track brings sunshine to our day; whether you’re upset, down, angry, Blessing’s ‘I Smile‘ will bring light to your mood.

While loving the music, we are also fond of Blessing’s distinct vocals; they give extra swagger and power to the song. No wonder why she won The Voice!

Drivers License

The music within Olivia Rodrigo’s single, ‘Drivers License‘, is an emotional piece; from the soft piano keys to her delicate, sweet vocals, it tugs at our heartstrings, listening to her passionately singing about a painful breakup.

Skin

Relating to expressing painful feelings and thoughts, Sabrina Carpenter’s single, ‘Skin‘, is empowering, telling people never to give up and to always push through negative things in life.

Diggin in the Dirt

Mad Hatter’s Daughter keeps it real inside ‘Diggin in the Dirt‘, an overview of how everyone is feeling; consuming anger, frustration and sadness, and this shows through the strength of her voice to the heavy music within the song.

Medicine

With James Arthur’s music, we love how it is energised and transforms an upbeat feel over everybody when they listen to it. An example of this is ‘Medicine‘, which describes the need for someone special in your life, and right now, it is true because everyone needs love and affection.

Forever (Remix)

To sum up, how we feel about the remix of ‘Forever’, by rising artist’s, Gyakie and Omah Lay, is that its bubbly and soulful. A song that you can catch yourself dancing around to, and we recommend adding this to your playlist now to get this upbeat feel.

Tug Of War

Tug Of War‘ by rising pop singer, Eleni C, is an inspirational, vigorous song. Her single conveys a meaningful story that if something is toxic in your life, you need to decide whether it is worth having in your life before its too late.

Eleni’s style of music also brings a rhythm to which you can vibe while listening to it. It is an electronic-pop song that we see most artists use today, and it is incredible to see how different artists like Eleni can put their personality to it.

Rubberband

Tate Mcrae’s single ‘Rubberband‘ is another choice that has compelled us. We are impressed with how Tate brings emotion that can influence anyone who listens to her songs. We adore how her vocals sound, which can describe as a dreamy, whispery tone, and when mixing this with her style, they radiate an enthralling sound when listening to it.

We’re Good

With Dua Lipa’s infused pop single, we are mesmerised by the music video of ‘We’re Good‘, which portrays the story around a lobster and the fear of being cooked. It is an emotional piece, and it is a fascinating video to watch.

Telling Myself

In Joshua Bassett’s self-titled EP, ‘Telling Myself‘ is another uplifting song we love from our best songs list. Despite the story about a chaotic relationship, it is brilliant how different elements within the song, the story and the music create a remarkable piece; having a messy relationship concept and bringing energetic music to make it effective is extraordinary. It demonstrates how you don’t always have to use sad, sensitive music to convey your narrative.

Overall, as you can see, here at InCeleb, we are big fans of music that create a thrill from different genres such as pop, alternative, R&B etc… We wanted to show our appreciation to artists who are still being creative and original with music despite the unprecedented times right now.
