What Did The Golden Globes Nomination List Convey?

Recently, The Golden Globes have published the exciting list of nominations which recognise the talent inside the TV and Film industry. From The Golden Globes nominations, it has conveyed various messages which are beneficial, but some messages which are surprising.

There has been a wide range of successful films and TV series which have made the list including the amazing films such as ‘Soul‘, ‘Emily In Paris‘, ‘One Night In Miami‘ and many more. The Golden Globes have been diverse in their nominations where they have nominated more female directors including Chloe Zhao, Emerald Fennell and Regina King and it is an improvement because many people in previous years have criticised the awards for not showing enough female directors in nominations.

As well as this, the nominees chosen for different categories represent more ethnic minority groups including films such as ‘Soul‘ and ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom‘. However, people were shocked to see how the Netflix series ‘Bridgerton‘ or the acclaimed BBC-HBO drama, ‘I May Destroy You‘, was ignored from the list.

Especially the drama ‘I May Destroy You‘ because it gained many likes and it was also nominated one of the best TV shows of 2020 from The Times and The Guardian. It was a show which presented a significant storyline to all audiences. I May Destroy You debuted in June 2020, starring Michaela Cole, who also wrote the show, was about a storyline based on sexual assault, highlighting the experiences and providing an insight about what victims go through. The show gained a lot of popularity last year and that’s why fans were confused of why TV Shows like this one wasn’t chosen.
