Only one word we can use, to sum up, how disgraceful something is, all you have to say is ‘2020’. In terms of the current year of 2020, it has been one of a high and unpredictable roller coaster ride. We have seen it all.
At the start of the year, it was a one like no other. After hearing the news that a frightening and daunting virus spread in China and different parts of the world, including our country of England, we had to face that the life of our world was changing rapidly. It started with people being enforced by law to stay in their homes as our country was in lockdown.
Lockdown was a novelty for everyone. Emotions were running wild, as we had to stay in our households and not visit any family members, it was distressful and disheartening for everyone. Panic rushed through from people purchasing resources and mental health impacting individuals. Again it was an indescribable experience.
Despite being trapped in our homes and also keeking safe, normally social media would’ve been a bad influence on people, but it actually was positive for a majority of people. We had access to facetime and video calls, texting and calling our family members. It was a way of relieving stress. Another way that helped people become stress-free was the entertainment and positivity that was given across the world.
Here we are looking back at the highlights of lockdown:
Sometimes all you need is that one song or melody to embrace love and power inside your life. Well with lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic, music was one of the many things that kept people at ease, as artists continued to release their music.
For example, country singer Levi Hummon gave us his outstanding singles such as ‘Wedding Dress’ and ‘Rock N Roses’ which was very rhythmical. Also, singers such as AJ Tracey and Mabel excited us with some epic music too, when they collaborated on ‘West 10’.

Speaking of music, the application called TikTok entertained us with dance moves to learn from some of the world’s biggest artists and influencers. It was joyful learning dances to some of our favourite songs in music. Influencers such as Holly H was a big help in teaching us the moves of the year!
However, on some occasions, it wasn’t always laughter and happiness, sadly during the lockdown period, George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in USA. In regards to his death, across the world people gathered to get justice for his life and to prevent police brutality. There were togetherness and unity.

During the times of uncertainty, Netflix and Disney Plus were one of the many streaming platforms that entertained us through the lockdown event. They supplied us with interesting films and TV-Series to binge-watch such as Disney channel movies and series we all used to love. As well as this, Netflix brought out movies such as the premiere of The Kissing Booth 2 or series such as Tiger King.

Talking of entertainment and TV, Max and Harvey amused CBBC with their awesome TV show called FOMO, but this time it was different, as they independently filmed it within their home. While doing this, they also uploaded some joyful Instagram and TikTok content with their siblings too. They even did a 24-hour live stream for charity!
Also, Miley Cyrus created her own lockdown show at home to boost the emotions of people. Her show was called ‘Bright Minded’, where she invited celebrity guests to talk about their career and their life during the lockdown.
Finally, we had fashion collaborations take place on some of the most stylish brands. For example, celebrities such as Jacqueline Jossa, Saffron Barker, Shaughna Phillips and Demi Jones presented their stunning outfits which were marketed on In The Style.

Stacey Solomon and Mrs Hinch gave us tips on how to keep our houses tidy and how to also cook delicious food!

Celebrity Googlebox continued to make us laugh every Friday on Channel 4!

Now as we may enter our 2nd lockdown, we would like to advise you to keep safe and wear masks for your own and other people’s safety. We also would like to say that you are doing a great job, keep going, always have hope. Remember if you feel upset or stressed, talk to someone you trust. There are always better days and you will make your way through. There will always be hope.
