If you have watched ‘Reminders Of Him’, the film adaptation by fan-favourite Colleen Hoover, then you have heard Noah Cyrus’s new single ‘Light Over The Hill‘, which joins everyone together, radiating hope and positivity.
The new single fits well within the ending credits of the movie as it follows an emotional storyline about the main character, Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe), fighting her way back to living a life with her 4-year-old daughter, Diem (Zoe Kosovic), after being released from prison after five years, pleading guilty in the tragic events from a drunk-driving accident that killed her boyfriend Scotty Landry (Rudy Pankow). Feeling lost yet determined, Kenna returns to the place where it all happened, the city that changed and twisted her life, leaving her feeling hopeless and devastated.
From trying to get a job while holding a criminal record to being prevented by Diem’s grandparents, Grace (Lauren Graham) and Patrick (Bradley Whitford), Kenna continues to stay strong and does everything in her power to carry on living, dreaming of that moment when she can be finally reunited with her daughter.
Along the way, Kenna befriends Scotty’s closest best mate Ledger (Tyriq Withers), who gets to know the real Kenna, not just the one who took away Scotty from his parents, but the inspiring woman who has experienced a lot of trauma and defeat, but still manages to light up a place wherever she goes. Okay, we won’t spoil the rest!
With themes on love, relationships, and making second chances happen, ‘Light Over The Hill‘ speaks strongly about this, capturing the message to never give up and always fight for what it’s worth living for.
While country-folk singer Noah Cyrus sings with soothing vocals, she still holds a strength and passion within her as she sings about overcoming difficulties and remembering that everything will have a happy ending, telling us “And love is the light comin’ over the hill/When I look in her eyes, it’s you I feel/If there’s a mountain, if I’m more alive to reveal/But for you, my love, you know I will.”
Hearing this at the end of the credits of Reminders Of Him will make you shed a tear, helping you believe there is a way through the darkness, making you aware that not everything bad will stay with you forever.
