It has been nearly a month since Bridgerton season 4 came to an end on Netflix, and now we are already anticipating the next upcoming series. No surprise, the new season announcement has dropped today.
But let’s recap and explore our thoughts on the remarkable love story that captured our hearts in Bridgerton Season 4, a series that has once again won the love of many fans.
Having been a longtime viewer of the Netflix TV show, I thought it would be the same old love story, one of the Bridgerton children meeting a love match and falling head over heels for their special partner. However, I was not expecting to become more intrigued while watching it; it brought new themes and storylines which tugged at the heart and even brought a tear to my eye during the ending scene.
Unlike the other seasons, this new one brought a unique perspective in finding a ‘love match’, a twist which unravels through the concept of a ‘Cinderella-like’ love story, bringing mystery, passion, and above all, love together. This new storyline theme made it irresistible to turn my eyes away from the screen; it became one of my favourite hobbies watching the main character, Benedict Bridgerton, go on his journey to find his ‘Lady In Silver’, with whom he shared a delightful moment at his mother’s ball in the beginning episodes.
Yes, you have got that right, Mr Benedict Bridgerton, the charming second son, had the spotlight shine on him this season, after all, it is about time he met the woman of his dreams and no better woman than Miss Sophie Baek.
While not knowing who this mysterious woman was at the ball, Benedict had the trouble of not being able to get the vision of her out of his mind, from drawing beautiful portraits of the young lady to asking around the ton about the exquisite lady he encountered. (Don’t worry, we won’t give any spoilers if you haven’t watched it!).
It was a poignant watch to see the slow-burning chemistry between actor Luke Thompson and actress Yerin Ha; they developed a magical bond, and you can recognise how much of an important, lovable relationship they have on camera, pouring their hearts and emotions into the scenes they create.
Obviously, liking the characters Anthony Bridgerton and Colin Bridgerton the most, I was surprised to grow a likeable attachment to the character Benedict because he brought emotion and spoke with power on every word he said. Whether that was making speeches to Sophie or opening up about his feelings, believing he is just ‘a spare’. It feels raw yet sentimental seeing the lines being delivered by Luke Thompson.
Speaking of love and being sentimental, Bridgerton has a way of building scenes that are surrounded by friendship and that feeling of belonging. Scenes such as the Scottish dance scene performed by John’s cousin, Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza) and Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), seeing the family rejoice in such a devastating occasion, carrying the love, hope and light in life that things will get better with family and friends by your side.
Another scene, which I believe we were all moved by, is the gifted friendship that delves deep between Agatha Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). They bring a true bond to the screen, exploring their longstanding and strong connection, showing that no matter where they are, they will always have each other’s friendship in their lives.
Why not watch season 4 of Bridgerton if you haven’t already, and let us know what you think?
